Sources & evidence

How this tool is sourced

Every printed statement, its cited source, and the passage that supports it.

Every clinical statement that can appear on the bedside tools is listed here with the source it cites, the evidence status, and the passage from that source that supports it — so you can check each statement against its reference without downloading the full text.

Reference aid only. This tool supports — and does not replace — clinical judgment, local protocol, and prescriber/pharmacy review. It is not a standalone order set or a validated decision-support device. Verify all medication decisions against current institutional policy.

About the quoted passages. Supporting passages are excerpted from their cited sources for citation verification and commentary, each attributed with a link to the original. Rights to the quoted text remain with the respective publishers. The full methodology, instrument logic, and citation registry are reproduced in the Methodology & clinical basis section below — also maintained as the clinical methodology document.

How to read the status labels

Each label describes how a line is sourced, not whether the advice is sound:

  • Full-text verified — the exact wording is quoted from the archived source.
  • Validated instrument · Guideline text · Abstract · Web page — cited to that kind of published source.
  • Operational — a workflow or documentation step (e.g. “consult per unit practice”, “intensify the bundle”, a write-in field) that is sound by design and carries no central citation.
  • Site content — a locally-customized item each unit adapts to its own protocol.

A line's clinical basis can be well established even where its citation is a guideline or the item is operational — the label describes the citation, not the validity.
